Area Cup Guidelines

2010 U16/U19 Area Cup Guidelines

Game Cards

  • Coaches supply their own game cards for all games.
  • Game cards to be collected by the center refs following each game and given to the field marshals for processing.
  • Game cards to be paper clipped together following each game in order to better figure out scores and fill in electronic brackets on the Area 2C web site. www.ayso2c.org
  • Following the last game at each field on Saturday, the game cards for Saturday are to be placed in the field marshal binder and kept at the field for the next days play. Sunday, the binders are to be delivered to Mike Morrissey at Mikes home address, 402 Ivy Lane, Pleasant Hill.

Point System

  • Point system as follows:

a.  1 point per goal up to three goals.

b.  1 additional point for a shut out.

c.  6 points for a win.

d.  3 points for a tie.

e. 1 point deducted for a player send off, either red card or two combined yellow cards.

f. 1 point deducted for winning any game over a 6 goal differential.

g. 6 points for a Bye.

h. 8 points for a forfeit.

i. 6 points for each team for a Double Forfeit. This is in case no ref shows for a game and the game is called.  See Ref info below.

Tie Breakers for bracket play

  • Goal differential will be +/- goals first.
  • Goals will be counted up to a max of 3 goals per game.
  • If there is still a tie, least amount of goals given up.
  • If there is still a tie, flip of a coin will determine the winners.
  • Ties in semis and finals will go directly to Kicks from the Mark since there is no real time to extend the semi games and give the proper rest time between semis and finals.

Game Results

  • Game results for Saturday will be posted by Mike Morrissey and crew.  All Saturday game scores will be updated on the Area Web site by 8PM Saturday evening.  Coaches should check the Area web site late Saturday evening or early Sunday morning for current bracket standings.
  • Sunday results will be posted on line as games are called in by the field marshals.
  • Game results for Saturday and Sunday to be called into Mike Morrissey / 925-768-6221.
  • Field marshals will be at Concord and PHMSA fields Saturday and Sunday.

Game Times

  • All Saturday and Sunday games will be 25 minute halves, including the Sunday Semi final games. Note: Sunday Semi final games are still bracket games, the points in those games count toward the teams bracket standings which will determine who goes to the divisional final games.
  • Sunday Finals games will be 40 minute halves.

Rain Out Info

  • The U16/19 Area Cup may be rescheduled for the next weekend if it rains.  We will worry about that when the time comes. If the games are called off on Sunday, point totals and goal differential will decide the winners of the Area Cup via the Tie Breaker Rules.
    • Goal differential will be +/- goals first.  Goals will be counted up to a max of 3 goals per game.
    • If there is still a tie, least amount of goals given up.
    • If there is still a tie, flip of a coin will determine the winners.
  • Rain lines:
    • PHMSA, please see the web, www.phmsa.org , under the "Welcome" page is the Fields Condition link.  The web site will be updated by 7AM.
    • Concord rainout hotline number is 671-3479.  Rainout hotline should be updated by 7AM.

Field Info

  • No dogs allowed on Concord or MDSA fields.
  • Teams in opening games will be responsible for field set up.
  • Teams in last game of the day will be responsible for field take down.
  • Concord Field Point Person: Tony Martinez 709-9794 home 628-6156 Cell / Megan Pollastrini 676-2903 home 408-1410 cell
  • PHMSA Field Point Person: Heather Schaefer / 925-212-1791 cell / 925-228-7352

Awards

  • Medals will be delivered to the various fields hosting Finals and placed in the knack boxes.
  • Center Ref's for the finals will be responsible for handing out the medals to the winning and runner up teams. TBD

Refs

  • If only one referee shows up - they should use club linesman - positioned on opposite sides of the field from their home team.
  • If no refs show up then a uniformed referee could step in - but both coaches have to agree on the referee. Once agreed - then the game results stand. If one coach does not agree - the result reverts back to the 'no ref' situation.
  • Must be impressed upon everyone that NO GAME can be played if no Certified Referee is in the center.  This would result in the double forfeit (6 points for each team) as mentioned above in the Point System category.
  • Because there is little time between games - there will be no coin toss for any pool play game. Home team will kick off and visiting team will select side to attack. Semis and Finals will have coin toss.
